French immigration to America has a rich history, dating back to the early days of colonization. Today, French influence can be seen in every aspect of American culture, including real estate.
French immigration to America began in the 16th century, with the arrival of French explorers and traders. It wasn't until the 17th and 18th centuries, however, that French immigration to America saw a significant increase. During this time, French Huguenots, seeking religious freedom, settled in the colonies. Many of these immigrants were skilled artisans, such as weavers and leatherworkers, who played an important role in the development of early American industry. French immigration to America continued to increase during the 19th century, with large numbers of French Canadians settling in the Northeast and Midwest.
Existing-home sales slid for the second consecutive month, falling 3.4% nationwide as of last measure, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), as higher interest rates continue to impact buyer affordability. Sales are down 23% compared to the same period a year ago, while contract signings dropped 20.3% year-over-year. With sales cooling, buyers in some parts of the country have found relief in the form of declining sales prices, which are down 1.7% year-over-year nationally, although more affordable markets continue to see price gains.
