August 2026 Market Stats

U.S. existing-home sales edged down 1.7% from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.06 million units, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Regionally, sales increased in the Northeast, held steady in the West, and declined in the Midwest and South. On a year-overyear basis, sales rose in the Midwest and West while remaining flat in the Northeast and South.

• Single Family Closed Sales were up 1.4 percent to 1,796.
• Townhouse-Condo Closed Sales were down 0.2 percent to 430.
• Adult Communities Closed Sales remained flat at 50.
• Single Family Median Sales Price increased 4.3 percent to $730,000.
• Townhouse-Condo Median Sales Price increased 0.3 percent to $446,250.
• Adult Communities Median Sales Price decreased 3.5 percent to $482,450.

NCJAR is now accepting 2027 Committee Applications! Members are encouraged to get involved and play an active role in helping shape the future of the Association.

Serving on an NCJAR committee is a great opportunity to connect with fellow members, share your knowledge and ideas, support the REALTOR® community, and contribute to NCJAR’s programs, initiatives, and priorities.

Get Involved in 2027

Members may select up to three committees that interest them. Committee selections are not ranked, and appointments will be based on committee needs and available opportunities.

Whether you’re a longtime member or looking to become more involved for the first time, we encourage you to apply and bring your experience, perspective, and ideas to NCJAR.

Quarter Century Club Applications Now Open for 2026

The Quarter Century Club honors NJ Realtor® members who have served as Realtors® or Realtor-Associates® faithfully in New Jersey for 25 years or more. The 2026 application is now available and must be submitted to Michelle Perrone Epstein, NCJAR COO at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than Friday, September 25, 2026. No exceptions! 

No fee required.  

Application  Requirements:

1. Quarter Century Club membership is open to all members of New Jersey Realtors® who have held an active, Realtor® or Realtor-Associate® membership with NJ Realtors® for 25 years or more.

2. Proof of 25 years of membership must be submitted with your application. Obtaining proof is the responsibility of the applicant. You may utilize your local board(s)/association(s) to acquire the necessary paperwork. Note: An active license with the New Jersey Real Estate Commission does not constitute active membership status.
