At the heart of the real estate profession lies a commitment to ethical conduct and professionalism. To ensure that REALTORS® uphold these standards, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has established a comprehensive Code of Ethics Training Requirement for all its members.
What's Required?
Existing REALTOR® members are expected to complete 2.5 hours of ethics training within three-year cycles. This training is designed to meet specific learning objectives and criteria that emphasize the ethical principles and conduct expected of all real estate professionals.
Streamlined Transition
If you've already completed the required ethics training within a three-year cycle in one association, here's some good news: you won't be required to repeat the training if you become or are already a member of another association during that same training cycle. NAR values your commitment to ethics education, and this provision ensures a seamless transition when you join different associations.
Fulfilling the Code of Ethics Training Requirement
For existing members looking to fulfill the Code of Ethics Training Requirement, NAR provides a range of resources to support your journey:
1. Learn the Requirements: Get acquainted with the specific requirements and learning objectives outlined in the Code of Ethics Training. Understanding these expectations is the first step toward ethical excellence in your real estate career.
2. Sample Classroom Course Materials: Explore sample classroom course materials to gain insights into the content and structure of the ethics training. These materials provide a glimpse into what you can expect from the training sessions.
3. Check Your Code of Ethics Status: Keep track of your progress and compliance by checking your Code of Ethics status. This feature allows you to monitor your training completion and ensures that you meet the necessary requirements within the stipulated timeframe.
NAR is committed to fostering a community of REALTORS® who exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. By completing the Code of Ethics Training Requirement, you not only uphold these principles but also contribute to the integrity and reputation of the real estate industry as a whole.
Join us in our mission to maintain the ethical foundation of the real estate profession and enhance your professional growth through ethical excellence. Your commitment to ethical conduct is not only a testament to your dedication but also a source of pride as a REALTOR®.
