As the world celebrates Pride Month, NCJAR took the opportunity to recognize and support the LGBTQ+ community by hosting a special networking celebration at the Alto Rooftop above the AC Hotel in Montclair, New Jersey. This event aimed to provide a platform for all to come together and connect, build relationships, and exchange ideas. The evening was marked with a highlight, as the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance President Erin Morrison shared valuable insights about the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in the real estate world. Classic Mortgage was generous enough to sponsor cocktails for the evening, and we would like to give a special thanks to Tony Costanzo and Angelo Straface for their support.

The LGBTQ+ community has long faced discrimination in various industries, and the real estate market is no exception. Erin Morrison addressed these concerns during the Pride Month networking celebration event. She pointed out that members of the LGBTQ+ community still face various hurdles when it comes to real estate. One of the most significant challenges is discrimination from landlords, homeowners, and real estate agents. A study conducted on behalf of the National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals found that same-sex couples are 73% more likely to experience discrimination when trying to rent or buy a home. Additionally, discrimination can also occur in property appraisals and homeowners' insurance coverage, resulting in a lack of affordable housing for the LGBTQ+ community.

The event offered an opportunity to learn about these challenges and foster exclusivity in the real estate market. It was great to see so many realtors come together to support the community and encourage change. The networking event was an excellent platform for people to exchange ideas and discuss how they can make positive changes towards combating the aforementioned issues.

The LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance also provides fantastic resources, such as fair housing education and LGBTQ+ knowledge training. Erin Morrison highlighted the importance of offering these resources to not only enhance the knowledge of real estate professionals but to provide better service to the LGBTQ+ community. She also pointed out that there is an opportunity to join the cause at www.realestatealliance.org.

NCJAR’s Pride Month Networking Celebration at the Alto Rooftop was an excellent support system for the LGBTQ+ community to raise awareness about the challenges they face in the real estate industry. Erin Morrison’s impactful speech highlighted some of the significant issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community and the opportunities created by catering to them. It is essential for the real estate industry to ensure the LGBTQ+ community has equal rights to access housing, without discrimination. The event served as a platform to support exclusivity by providing knowledge and resources to make the real estate industry a fair platform for all. Our thanks go out to all participants who made this event a great success. #FairHousingForAll #LGBTQHomeownership #ProfessionalismElevated #DiversityandInclusion #Pride #LGBTQ+ #RealEstateAlliance #ErinMorrison #NCJAR #CelebrateDiversity
