1. How do I process a referral with NJRN?
Please complete and send in this form or you may complete the online submission.
2. How am I billed for my renewals by NJRN?
All billing is emailed to each NJRN agent. Please be sure to maintain accurate contact information, especially your email address with NJRN so not miss out on any important message or billing.
3. How are the brokerage activities of a referral agent restricted?
A referral agent is limited to referring prospective consumers of real estate brokerage services to their employing broker or broker-of-record. Click here for more detailed information on the restrictions on the brokerage activity of referral agents.
4. Can a referral agent make referrals DIRECTLY to other brokers and or companies?
No, a licensed referral agent is only permitted to refer prospects to the broker through whom they are licensed FOR PLACEMENT WITH OTHER BROKERS OR COMPANIES, and is only permitted to accept compensation from his or her employing broker or broker-of-record.
5. What is the fee to change your license type to referral agent?
If your salesperson or broker-salesperson license is presently in active status with a broker, the fee to change your salesperson or broker-salesperson license to a referral agent is $50. If your license is presently in inactive status during the current license term, the fee to change your license type is $50, and the fee to transfer to a broker is $25.
6. How do I get my pocket ID card?
Licenses can carry a print-out of their current license status, as posted on the “Licensee Search” function of the Department's website.
7. Am I required to carry my pocket ID card?
Yes, all licensees have the ability to generate their own real estate license as an Adobe Acrobat PDF document. You have the option of saving the document for printing or having emailed to you directly for you to display on a cell phone, tablet, laptop, or other electronic device. This requirement includes referral agents.
8. How can I verify my current license status?
Licensees and the general public may access this Licensee Search.
9. Will a referral agent be required to complete continuing education?
No, referral agents are not currently required to complete continuing education. However, upon changing your license type back to active status as a salesperson, broker or broker salesperson, you will be required to complete them based on the length of time you have been a referral agent.
10. I am licensed as a referral agent and want to change my status to salesperson, broker-salesperson or broker. Do I need to complete continuing education to do so?
Continuing education is required to change your license type. The amount and type of continuing education required varies depending on whether you were previously licensed as a salesperson, broker-salesperson or broker and the length of time you have been licensed as a referral agent. 11. How do I update my contact information?
You must update your contact information with BOTH NJRN and the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. You may update with the NJREC by accessing your menu in their online licensing system and use the “Update your contact information” function.

The New Jersey Referral Network, LLC (NJRN) a wholly owned subsidiary of the North Central Jersey Association of REALTORS®, offers agents, who no longer wish to work full-time in real estate, but wish to earn commissions, the opportunity to do so. Agents may change their license from active Salesperson to Referral, and place their license in the NJRN. This enables agents to utilize their license and earn commissions by simply placing referrals through the NJRN.

Members of the NJ REALTORS®️ Quarter Century Club are recognized for their commitment to the real estate industry and their unprecedented years of service. The program provides members with a Commemorative Quarter Century Club Pin and Certificate, Special recognition at the 2023 Triple Play REALTOR® Convention and Trade Expo, and use of the Quarter Century Club logo on your business cards and website.
To be eligible for the 2023 NJ REALTORS®️ Quarter Century Club, members must have been licensed for at least 25 years and be a current member in good standing of the National Association of REALTORS®, the state association (NJ REALTORS®️), and the local board in which they are a member.
