In December 2021, the NJ Attorney General updated the Memorandum to include the newly signed “Fair Chance in Housing Act”, which applies to criminal background checks. This revised Memorandum REPLACES the one dated October 7, 2020 and should be the only copy now. Every Broker should have a copy of this Memorandum in his/her office made available to every agent. Every Agent should have copies of this Memorandum with them on all listing appointments and every landlord and seller should be given a copy. In addition, a copy of HUD’s Assistance Animal Memorandum should be handed out to all landlords.
Remember. If there is any indication of discrimination you cannot represent that seller or landlord.
